About

A Jeopardy champion and data scientist walked into a bar chart. This is what happened next.

Who Built This

Jeopardy Win Probabilities is built by Colin Davy, a data scientist in Chicago and Jeopardy champion. Before this project, Colin was a data scientist at The Action Network, where he built the bet win probability model used by millions of sports bettors. He brought that same analytical framework to the game he knows best.

You can read the full story of how he used data science to prepare for and win on Jeopardy in this article.

What This Site Does

Every day, this site automatically analyzes the latest Jeopardy game and generates win probability charts showing each player's chances of winning at every moment — like the win probability graphs ESPN shows during football games, but for Jeopardy. It covers every regular season and tournament game going back to Season 19. Over 5,000 games and counting.

Beyond win probability, the site includes:

Why It Exists

Jeopardy is a sport. It has strategy, high-stakes decisions, measurable skill differences, and moments of real drama. Baseball has Statcast. Football has Next Gen Stats. Jeopardy has had... nothing. Until now.

It started with a simple question Colin had after his own games: "Was my Daily Double wager correct?" Answering that question required a win probability model. Building that model revealed how much more there was to explore — who's really the best player of all time, which games were the most dramatic, and what separates the greats from everyone else.
